Based on final results of the California Democratic primary, we have revised the total pledged delegate allocation from that state to Hillary Clinton 203, Barack Obama 167.

Added one delegate for Hillary Clinton (District of Columbia DNC member Mona Mohib) and two delegates for Barack Obama (Indiana DNC member Connie Thurman and West Virginia Rep. Nick Rahall).

Wednesday, 5 March 2008

I'm still waiting on results from the Texas Democratic Caucus, which is currently only reporting 40% of returns. I'll have projections for pledged PLEO and at-large delegates from Texas when more results come in.

Added six delegates for Obama (Georgia Democratic Party chair Jane Kidd and DNC member Mary Long, Illinois DNC member Darlena Williams-Burnett, Nevada DNC member Teresa Benitez-Thompson, Dayton, OH mayor Rhine McLin, and Texas Democratic Party Vice Chair Roy LaVerne Brooks).

Tuesday, 4 March 2008

Mike Huckabee has withdrawn from the race. To simplify delegate counting, I am immediately halting coverage of the Republican race for president and projecting that John McCain will be the Republican presidential nominee. (Note that the Associated Press has him at 1191 delegates, the number needed to win; as I have limited time, I will not bother confirming this tally). At this time, the delegate table for the Republicans, including partial returns from Vermont and Ohio, is:

Huckabee McCain Paul Romney Unallocated
244 1056 17 101 952

Voting in today's Vermont primary will close at 19:00 EST, voting in today's Ohio primary will close at 19:30 EST, voting in today's Texas primary will close at 19:00 local time, and voting in today's Rhode Island primary will close at 21:00 EST. Additionally, Texas Democratic caucuses (to determine At-Large and Pledged PLEO delegates) will occur immediately after polls close in that state's primary. The pledged delegate allocation for these states is as follows:

I'm keeping track of all delegates, including superdelegates, to the Democratic National Convention here, as the delegations are announced by the state parties. Watch for this page to be continuously updated over the upcoming weeks.

Added two delegates for Clinton (Louisiana DNC member Renee Gill Pratt and Pennsylvania DNC member Ronald Donatucci) and nine delegates for Obama (Alabama Unpledged Add-On Stewart Burkhalter, Georgia Rep. John Barrow, Louisiana DNC member Ben Jeffers, Minnesota DFL Chair Brian Melendez and Associate Chair Donna Cassutt, North Dakota DNC member Renee Pfenning, Texas State Rep. Yvonne Davis, West Virginia Sen. Jay Rockefeller, and Wisconsin Democratic Chair Joe Wineke). Also, switched Texas DNC member Senfronia Thompson from Clinton to Obama and moved former DNC chair Ken Curtis from Maine to Florida, thereby removing him from the active roster of delegates.

Wednesday, 27 February 2008

Added two delegates for Clinton (New York DNC members Dennis Mehiel and Sylvia Tokasz), three delegates for McCain (District of Columbia RNC members Robert Kabel, Tony Parker, and Betsy Werronen) and nine delegates for Obama (Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd, District of Columbia Shadow Senators Michael D. Brown and Paul Strauss, Georgia Rep. John Lewis, Illinois DNC member Steve Powell, North Dakota Sen. Byron Dorgan, Cincinnati, OH mayor Mark Mallory, and South Dakota Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin).

Sunday, 24 February 2008

John McCain has won all 20 delegates from Puerto Rico's Republican caucuses, held today. He also won all 9 delegates from American Samoa and all 9 delegates from the Northern Marianas yesterday.

Friday, 22 February 2008

Added one delegate for Clinton (West Virginia DNC member Belinda Biofore) and three delegates for Obama (Ohio DNC member Sonny Nardi, Pennsylvania DNC member Leon Lynch, and Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold). Also, revoked improperly allocated Ohio superdelegate Mark Mallory and retracted California DNC member John Perez's support of Clinton.

Democrats Abroad has released a revised delegate allocation due to a spreadsheet error in their initial calculations. I've updated the table below with the new numbers (Clinton loses ½ delegate votes to Obama).

Thursday, 21 February 2008

Added two delegates for Clinton (California DNC member Garry Shay and new Rhode Island Democratic Party vice chair Grace Diaz), twenty-two delegates for McCain (Alabama RNC members Mike Hubbard and Edgar Welden, American Samoa RNC members Tautai Faalevao, Te'O Fuavai, and Amata Radewagen, California RNC members Tim Morgan and Ron Nehring, Colorado RNC member Lilly Nunez, Hawaii RNC members Miriam Hellreich, Willes Lee, and Travis Thompson, Idaho RNC member Kirk Sullivan, Maine RNC member Karen Raye, Montana RNC members Betti Hill and Erik Iverson, Nebraska RNC member DeMarus Carlson, Nevada RNC members Joe Brown, Sue Lowden and Beverly Willard, Ohio RNC member Michael Colley, Puerto Rico RNC members Zori Fanalledas, Luis Fortuno, and Carlos Mendez, Texas RNC member Denise McNamara), and seven delegates for Obama (Massachusetts DNC member Margaret Xifaras, New Jersey DNC member Donald Norcross, Pennsylvania DNC member Carol Ann Campbell, Texas Reps. Chet Edwards and Lloyd Doggett, and Wisconsin Rep. Steve Kagen and DNC member Jason Rae). Noted Florida Rep. Kathy Castor's endorsement of Obama. Also, switched Illinois DNC member John Rednour from Clinton to Obama (due to identity clarification) and New Jersey St. Sen. Dana Redd from Clinton to Obama.

Democrats Abroad have posted the result of their global caucuses. The delegate vote allocation from these caucuses (including our projection of Pledged PLEO and At-Large delegates, which are not yet official) is as follows:

As the 5 February vote is still being counted in California (as in New York and some other states), the delegate count in these states is subject to change. Barack Obama has now taken the lead in the 53rd Congressional District of California, gaining a delegate from Clinton. My current pledged delegate projection for California is now Clinton 206, Obama 164.

Yesterday, the Michigan Republican Convention selected the state's delegates to the national convention. After sanctions, McCain received 24 delegates, Huckabee received 4, and the leanings of 2 delegates are unknown.

Louisiana Republicans also held their convention to determine 44 national convention delegates yesterday. Of these, 32 support McCain, 3 are uncommitted, and the leanings of the remaining 9 are unknown.

Added four delegates for Clinton (Democrats Abroad DNC members Robert Bell and Leo Perez Minaya (½ vote), Rhode Island DNC members Frank Montanaro and Edna O'Neill Matson, and Texas DNC member Bob Slagle) and 2½ delegate for Obama (Democrats Abroad DNC members Toby Condliffe, Liv Gibbons, and Brent O'Leary (each with ½ vote) and District of Columbia Shadow Rep. Mike Panetta).

Friday, 15 February 2008

Added two delegates for Clinton (Pennsylvania DNC members Ian Murray and Ruth Rudy), two delegates for McCain (South Dakota RNC members Karl Adam and Ron Schmidt), and six delegates for Obama (Alaska DNC memer John Davies, New York DNC member Marianne Spraggins, Puerto Rico DNC member Celita Arroyo de Roques, South Dakota Democratic Party chair Jack Billion and DNC member Sharon Stroschein, and Washington Rep. Brian Baird). Additionally, Iowa DNC member Sarah Swisher has switched her support from Clinton to Obama. I've removed John Lewis's vote for Obama due to contradicting media reports regarding his vote.

Thursday, 14 February 2008

Added eight delegates for Clinton (California DNC member John Perez, Kentucky DNC members Moretta Bosley, Terry McBrayer, and Joetta Wickliffe, former DNC chair Debra DeLee (MA), Massachusetts DNC member Gus Bickford, Montgomery County, PA Democratic chair Marcel Groen, and Tennessee DNC member Jimmy Farris) and thirteen delegates for Obama (D.C. Democratic State Committee vice chair Jeffrey Richardson, Idaho DNC member Jeanne Buell, former DNC chair David Wilhelm (IL), former DNC chair Paul Kirk (MA), Massachusetts Democratic Party chair John Walsh and DNC member Raymond Jordan, Montana DNC member Ed Tinsley, New Jersey DNC member Christine Samuels, North Carolina Democratic Party vice chair Dannie Montgomery, Puerto Rico Gov. Anibal Acedo-Vila, South Dakota DNC member Nicholas Nemec, Tennessee DNC member Will Cheek, Vermont Democratic Party chair Ian Carleton). Additionally, switched the votes of Georgia Reps. John Lewis and David Scott from Clinton to Obama.

I'm waiting on the Maryland Secretary of State to post numbers from Anne Arundel, Baltimore, and Prince George's counties before I can calculate the final delegate count from Maryland. I'm also waiting on one precinct in Ward 1 of the District of Columbia before allocating the final delegate there (who is currently going for Obama by 40 votes). Hopefully, these will be posted tomorrow.

Voting in today's Virginia primary will close at 19:00 EST, and voting in today's District of Columbia and Maryland primaries will close at 20:00 EST. The pledged delegate allocation for these states is as follows:

Democrats in Maine are holding caucuses today. In addition to the 24 delegates selected by the state convention delegates elected today, Maine Democratic Party chair John Knutson has announced that he will cast his superdelegate vote for the winner of the caucuses. As no candidate has recieved 50% of the vote in the Louisiana Republican primary, 20 delegates will be officially unpledged. These delegates will be selected at the 16 February Louisiana Republican convention.

Today marks the Kansas Republican caucuses, Louisana (both party) primaries, Nebraska Democratic caucuses, Washington (both party) caucuses, and the Virgin Islands Democratic convention. Tables of the delegate allocation for each state will be posted when returns come in:

Associated Press tallies give Clinton 26 delegates and Obama 52 delegates in Washington. Added fourteen delegates for Clinton (Arkansas Democratic Party chair Bill Gwatney, California DNC member Rachel Binah, Georgia DNC members Carole Dabbs and Lonnie Plott, New Jersey DNC members Alvaro Cifuentes, Maria Cordone, Richard Michalski, and Glenard Middleton, Young Democrats of America chairman David Hardt (TX), Memphis, TN city councilman Myron Lowert, Texas DNC members Norma Fisher Flores and David Holmes, Vermont DNC member Billi Gosh, and Washington Rep. Norm Dicks) and nine delegates for Obama (Connecticut DNC member Anthony Avallone, Kentucky Rep. Ben Chandler, Missouri DNC member Mark Bryant, Nebraska DNC members Frank LaMere and Vince Powers, Texas Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, Vermont Democratic Party vice chair Judy Bevans, Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire, and Wisconsin Rep. David Obey). Also, retracted DNC members Mary Long's and Yolanda Wheat's record of support, switched DNC member Denise Johnson's support to Obama, and removed Georgia Obama delegate Shirley Franklin, as she is no longer a member of the Democratic National Committee.

Thursday, 7 February 2008

Added one delegate for Clinton (Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln) and one delegate for Obama (Iowa Gov. Chet Culver). Additionally, Maine Democratic Party chair John Knutson has announced that he will vote for the winner of the 10 February Maine caucuses; his vote will be recorded once we know who wins those caucuses.

After some consideration, I will be removing all delegates that are officially "Uncommitted" or "Unpledged" that support candidates that have withdrawn from the race from their candidate's column.

By reader request, I've broken down the Democratic delegate allocation into pledged and unpledged delegates. I won't bother doing this for the Republicans, as that race is very close to being over and it probably won't matter which delegates are pledged and which are unpledged.

Gov. Mitt Romney has withdrawn from the race. I will deallocate his unpledged delegates today.

Wednesday, 6 February 2008

Added two delegates for Clinton (Iowa DNC member Sarah Swisher and former House Speaker Jim Wright (TX)) and two delegates for Obama (Minnesota Rep. Tim Walz and DNC member Kenneth Foxworth). Also, noted the support of Michigan Reps. John Dingell and John Kildee for Clinton.

I'm in the process of going through and verifying the Super Tuesday delegate projections. In the tables, states with an asterisk next to them are the ones that are based only on media delegate counts; for these states, no delegate breakdown (or data permitting the calculation thereof) is available to me.

Tuesday, 5 February 2008

As Hillary Clinton appears to have won California, the vote of Sen. Barbara Boxer is allocated to Clinton.

While Mike Huckabee has won today's West Virginia Convention, it appears that he has given 3 of his 18 delegates to Ron Paul. The tally below reflects this action.

Today is Super Tuesday, in which 25 jurisdictions hold primaries or caucuses for one or both parties. Since it will be unnecessarily time-consuming to report the complete delegate allocation live on Super Tuesday night, I'll post summary tables of the race here. Feel free to send me e-mail for more detailed figures.

DNC member Jon M. Ausman of Florida (thank you very much!) provided us with the Democratic delegate allocation for Florida, should the delegation be seated. The allocation is as follows:

Additionally, of the 35 pledged alternates, 24 were pledged to Clinton, 1 was pledged to Edwards, and 10 were pledged to Obama.

Sunday, 3 February 2008

From the results of this weekend's Maine Republican caucuses, it appears that Mitt Romney will win all 18 pledged delegates from Maine (3 per Congressional District and 12 at-large).

Added six delegates for Clinton (Pennsylvania Democratic Party chair T.J. Rooney and Rep. Paul Kanjorski, Rhode Island Attorney General Patrick Lynch, Tennessee Democratic Party vice chair Elisa Parker, and Texas Reps. Gene Green and Solomon Ortiz) and two delegate for Obama (Colorado DNC members Debbie Marquez and Jonathan Postal).

Friday, 1 February 2008

Added two delegates for Clinton (Arizona DNC member Carolyn Warner and North Carolina DNC member Susan Burgess), two delegates for McCain (Louisiana RNC members Ross Little and Roger Villere), and four delegates for Obama (Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro, Minnesota Rep. Jim Oberstar, North Carolina DNC member Everett Ward, and Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer).

Thursday, 31 January 2008

Added one delegate for Clinton (Washington Sen. Patty Murray), six delegates for McCain (Louisiana RNC member Kay Kellog Katz, New York RNC members Joseph N. Mondello, Alexander Treadwell, and Jennifer Saul Yaffa, Northern Marianas RNC member Roman Palacios, and Tennessee RNC member Van Hilleary), six delegates for Obama (California Rep. Anna Eshoo, Connecticut Reps. John Larson and Chris Murphy, Kansas DNC member Lee Kinch, North Dakota Rep, Earl Pomeroy, and Utah DNC member Bill Orton), and one delegate for Romney (Oklahoma RNC member Bunny Chambers).

Wednesday, 30 January 2008

Sen. John Edwards has withdrawn from the race. All of his delegates will be considered "Unallocated", with the exception of the pledged delegates already selected in the South Carolina and New Hampshire primaries. Edwards now has 12 delegates. I'll figure out some good way of dealing with the Edwards, Hunter, and Thompson delegates still on the listing in the near future.

Added three delegates for Clinton (Arkansas DNC member Don Beavers, California Rep. Maxine Waters, and Kansas DNC member Teresa Krusor). Also, switched Arizona superdelegate and Congressman Raul Grijalva's support from Edwards to Obama, as he has changed his endorsement.

Tuesday, 29 January 2008

The Associated Press is reporting that ex-Mayor Rudy Giuliani will withdraw from the race tomorrow in favor of Sen. John McCain. When this happens, all 7 of Giuliani's delegates, which are either unpledged or caucus selections, will become "Unallocated".

John McCain has won the Florida Republican primary, and so receives all 57 Florida delegates.

Voting in today's Florida primary will close between 19:00 and 20:00 Eastern Standard Time. Due to sanctions, 57 Republican delegates will be allocated to the winner of the Republican primary, while the 210 Democratic delegates (of which 185 are pledged) have been completely stripped. I will calculate the pledged delegate allocation of Florida for the Democrats, but this may be delayed, as none of its delegates actually count.

Monday, 28 January 2008

Added two delegates for Obama (Massachusetts Rep. Michael Capuano and Rhode Island Rep. Patrick Kennedy). Kansas Republican Party chair Kris Kobach has enorsed Romney, but is only "unpledged" if no candidate receives a plurality in two or more Congressional districts in the 9 February caucuses. Additionally, California Sen. Barbara Boxer has announced that she will vote for the winner of the 5 February California primary; her vote will be recorded once we know who wins that primary.

Sunday, 27 January 2008

Added two delegates for Clinton (New York Democratic Party co-chairs June O'Neill and David Pollack), three delegates for McCain (Arizona RNC members Bruce Ash and Sharon Giese and South Dakota RNC member Mary Jean Jensen), and five delegates for Obama (California Rep. Xavier Becerra, Idaho DNC member Grant Burgoyne, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, and Tennessee House Speaker Pro Tempore Lois DeBerry). Also, Kansas RNC members Steve Cloud and Alicia Salisbury have endorsed McCain, but they are only "unpledged" if no candidate receives a plurality in two or more Congressional districts in the 9 February caucuses.

Saturday, 26 January 2008

Voting in today's South Carolina Democratic primary will close at 19:00 EST. This primary elects 45 of South Carolina's 54 delegates (the remainder are unpledged superdelegates) using a proportional allocation system. The pledged delegate allocation for South Carolina is as follows:

Democrats (updated 22:22 EST)

SC-D Clinton Edwards Obama Unallocated
1st Congressional District 1 1 2
2nd Congressional District 1 1 3
3rd Congressional District 1 1 2
4th Congressional District 1 1 2
5th Congressional District 2 1 3
6th Congressional District 1 5
At Large 3 2 5
Pledged PLEO 2 1 3
Total Pledged Delegates 12 8 25

Friday, 25 January 2008

Hillary Clinton has announced that she wants her delegates to support the seating of Michigan and Florida. However, we will not consider these delegates as counting until such time as the Credentials Committee of the Democratic National Convention, or the Convention itself, rules that they do.

Added three delegates for Clinton (Alaska Democratic Party chair Patti Higgins, Arizona DNC member Janice Brunson, and Rhode Island Democratic Party chair William Lynch). Also, noted Florida Senator Bill Nelson's impending endorsement of Clinton.

Thursday, 24 January 2008

Representative Dennis Kucinich of Ohio has withdrawn from the race. His delegate (himself) is now "Unallocated", as is DNC member Jon Ausman of Florida.

The Louisiana Republican caucuses held Tuesday elected an uncommitted pro-life slate to the majority of slots in the state convention, with John McCain placing second and Ron Paul placing third. I don't expect to post any Republican Louisiana delegates until at least the primary on 9 February, when the winner receives 20 delegates if they get a majority; the state convention that selects 44 of the 47 national convention delegates (the other three are superdelegates) is on 16 February.

Wednesday, 23 January 2008

While this doesn't impact the delegate count, former candidate Duncan Hunter has endorsed Huckabee.

Added five delegates for Clinton (California Rep. Joe Baca, Delaware DNC members Rhett Ruggerio and Karen Valentine, Oklahoma DNC member Betty McElderry, and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell) and two delegates for Obama (former DNC chairman Fred Harris (NM) and Oklahoma Democratic Party vice chair Kitti Asberry).

Tuesday, 22 January 2008

Added a delegate for Clinton (Puerto Rico Democratic Party Chair Roberto Prats Palerm) and a delegate for Obama (Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson).

Ex-Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee has withdrawn from the race. I've switched all of his delegates (namely, superdelegates and Nevada projected delegates) except for his three Wyoming delegates (Bruce Brown of Crook, Ed Buchanan of Goshen, and Lorraine Quarberg of Hot Springs), which will remain allocated to Thompson until they announce some other preference.

After further examination, I've determined that it makes no sense to project delegates for Nevada Republicans and not project delegates for Iowa Republicans. Therefore, I'm adopting the Associated Press count for Iowa, which allocates 30 delegates to Huckabee and 7 delegates to Romney.

Monday, 21 January 2008

Added a delegate for Clinton (Arizona Rep. Ed Pastor) and a delegate for Obama (Virginia Rep. Rick Boucher). While North Dakota Republican Party Chair Gary Emineth has endorsed McCain, I'm not sure that he is an unpledged delegate, so no addition to McCain's tally will be made at this time.

Saturday, 19 January 2008

After review, I (based on media sources) have determined that of the South Carolina delegates allocated after the sanction is taken into account, Sen. John McCain has received 19 delegates and Mike Huckabee has received 5 delegates.

Rep. Duncan Hunter of California has withdrawn from the race. Both of his pledged delegates are "soft" delegates (one technically unpledged delegate from Wyoming and one delegate from Nevada, which does not actually allocate delegates until April). The Nevada delegate will be considered "Unallocated", but the Wyoming delegate (Randi Craig of Sheridan) will remain allocated to Hunter for now.

Voting in today's South Carolina Republican primary will close at 19:00 EST. Due to sanctions, the Republicans have halved South Carolina's delegation from 47 to 24. Like the Michigan Republicans, the South Carolina Republicans have not released a revised formula to calculate a delegate allocation, so I'll report the full allocation of 47 pledged delegates unless such a formula is released. This allocation is as follows:

Republicans (updated 23:43 EST)

SC-R Giuliani Huckabee Hunter McCain Paul Romney Thompson Unallocated
1st Congressional District 3
2nd Congressional District 3
3rd Congressional District 3
4th Congressional District 3
5th Congressional District 3
6th Congressional District 3
At Large 29
Total Pre-Sanction Pledged Delegates 9 38

Nevada Republican caucus results will probably be known by 12:30 PST, and Nevada Democratic caucus results will start coming in at 14:00 PST. There are 31 Republican and 25 Democratic delegates at stake, but these are not directly elected by the caucuses; rather (much as in Iowa), the caucuses elect delegates to further conventions that actually elect national convention delegates. The pledged delegate allocation for Nevada is as follows:

Democrats (updated 16:44 PST)

NV-D Clinton Edwards Kucinich Obama Unallocated
1st Congressional District 3 3
2nd Congressional District 2 4
3rd Congressional District 2 2
At Large 3 3
Pledged PLEO 2 1
Total Pledged Delegates 12 13

Republicans (updated 15:13 EST)

NV-R Giuliani Huckabee Hunter McCain Paul Romney Thompson Unallocated
Total Pledged Delegates 1 2 1 4 4 17 2

Friday, 18 January 2008

Added two delegates for Clinton (California Rep. Loretta Sanchez and Texas Rep. Silvestre Reyes) and one delegate for Obama (California Rep. Linda Sanchez).

Since I don't really feel like retyping the entire thing in HTML format, the detailed Michigan delegate allocation can be found on my post here.

Thursday, 17 January 2008

I'm working on adding a complete table of superdelegate endorsements to the website. While it's still under construction, the Democratic page can be found here; the Republican page doesn't yet contain enough information to be worth uploading.

Added two delegates for Clinton (Colorado DNC member Ramona Martinez and Albuquerque, NM Mayor Martin Chavez), one delegate for Edwards (California DNC member John Perez), and three delegates for Obama (Maryland Rep. Albert Wynn and Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy and Rep. Peter Welch). Also, noted the support for Michigan superdelegate Debbie Dingell for Clinton.
Wednesday, 16 January 2008

I've received a few questions regarding Obama's half-delegate. This is superdelegate Connie Borde, Democratic National Committee member for Democrats Abroad. Each of the 8 DNC members from Democrats Abroad receives ½ of a vote on the floor of the Democratic National Convention.

Added two delegates for Obama (California Rep. Adam Schiff, Colorado Rep. Ed Perlmutter).

After review, I (based on media sources) have determined that of the Michigan delegates allocated after the sanction is taken into account, Gov. Mitt Romney receives 23, Sen. John McCain receives 6, and Gov. Mike Huckabee receives 1. Additionally, I've calculated that if the Michigan Democratic delegates were seated, Sen. Hillary Clinton would receive 73 delegates and "Uncommitted" would receive 55. I'll post the full breakdown of these delegates later.

Tuesday, 15 January 2008

Just to make delegate calculations even more exciting, the Michigan Republican Party's press release about tonight's primary argues that Michigan's 60 delegates will all be seated at the convention. Since it doesn't appear that Michigan has a revised formula for allocation, and the 57 pledged delegates from Michigan don't divide nicely into 30, I'm providing a listing of 57 delegates in the table below and not adding them into the delegate allocation at the top until I come up with a decent way of figuring out which ones have been sanctioned.

Voting in today's Michigan Primary will close between 20:00 and 21:00 Eastern Standard Time. The delegate allocation for Michigan is somewhat bizarre due to sanctions imposed by both major parties. The Republicans have halved Michigan's delegation from 60 delegates to 30, but – at least to my knowledge – have not released details of the revised formula to calculate a Michigan delegate allocation. The Democrats, meanwhile, have stripped Michigan of all 156 of its delegates, of which 128 were pledged; furthermore, Obama and Edwards have removed their names from the Michigan ballot, telling their supporters to vote for "Uncommitted". While I will be calculating the pledged delegate allocation of Michigan at some point for the Democrats, it will not be a priority, as none of its delegates currently count. The pledged delegate allocation for Michigan Republicans is as follows:

Republicans (updated 13:00 EST)

MI-R Giuliani Huckabee Hunter McCain Paul Romney Thompson Unallocated
1st Congressional District 3
2nd Congressional District 3
3rd Congressional District 3
4th Congressional District 3
5th Congressional District 3
6th Congressional District 3
7th Congressional District 3
8th Congressional District 3
9th Congressional District 3
10th Congressional District 3
11st Congressional District 3
12nd Congressional District 3
13rd Congressional District 3
14th Congressional District 3
15th Congressional District 3
At Large 2 4 6
Total Pre-Sanction Pledged Delegates 2 10 45

Monday, 14 January 2008

Added two delegates for Clinton (California Rep. Mike Thompson and New Mexico Lt. Gov. Diane Denish) and one delegate for Obama (California Rep. Zoe Lofgren). Also, noted the support for Michigan Rep. Sander Levin for Clinton; Levin is not added as a Clinton delegate, since Michigan's Democratic delegation is currently under sanction.

Saturday, 12 January 2008

Added seven delegates for Clinton (Arkansas DNC members Karla Bradley and Martha Dixon, Connecticut DNC member Ellen Camhi, Indiana Democratic Party Chair Dan Parker and DNC members Phoebe Crane and Bob Pastrick, and Washington ex-Speaker of the House Tom Foley), one delegate for Edwards (Oklahoma DNC member Jim Frasier), and eight delegates for Obama (Los Angeles, CA Council Pres. Eric Garcetti, Connecticut St. Reps. Martin Dunleavy and Stephen Fontana, Idaho DNC member Gail Bray, Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson, and North Dakota DNC members James Maxson and Mary Wakefield). Also, switched North Carolina superdelegate and Congressman G.K. Butterfield's support from Edwards to Obama, as he has changed his endorsement.

Friday, 11 January 2008

Added a delegate for Obama (Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano).

Thursday, 10 January 2008

Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico has withdrawn from the race. As all of his delegates were unpledged, all 21 Richardson delegates are now "Unallocated".

Added five delegates for Obama (California Reps. Barbara Lee, George Miller and Nancy Pelosi, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, and South Dakota Sen. Tim Johnson). While Nancy Pelosi has not (and will likely not, as she is Speaker of the House) formally endorsed Obama, it is widely believed that the Miller endorsement is a sign of Pelosi's will.

Wednesday, 9 January 2008

The Associated Press is reporting that Gov. Bill Richardson will drop out of the race. The Richardson campaign is denying these reports, so I'll retain Richardson's delegate count for now. Note that all of Richardson's delegates are unpledged.

Added nine delegates for Clinton (American Samoa Gov. Togiola Tulafono, Party Chair Fagafaga Langkilde, DNC members Deanna Fuimaono and Nathaniel Savali, Delaware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner, Georgia Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond, Nevada Rep. Shelley Berkley, New Jersey DNC member June Fisher, and Wisconsin DNC member Tim Sullivan) and one delegate for Obama (Atlanta, GA Mayor Shirley Franklin). Also, switched Virginia superdelegate and Democratic Party Chair C. Richard Cranwell's support from Obama to Edwards, as the report I previously read on his endorsement was incorrect.

Tuesday, 8 January 2008

Voting in the New Hampshire Primary will close between 19:00 and 20:00 Eastern Time. This primary actually elects the national convention delegates for both parties (22 for the Democrats, 12 for the Republicans), using a proportional allocation system. Note that there are additionally 8 unpledged Democratic delegates, of which 3 support Clinton and 3 support Obama. The Republicans have, incidentally, sanctioned New Hampshire; it originally had 9 additional pledged delegates as well as 3 unpledged delegates. The pledged delegate allocation for New Hampshire is as follows:

Democrats (updated 23:56 EST)

NH-D Clinton Edwards Kucinich Obama Richardson Unallocated
1st Congressional District 3 1 3
2nd Congressional District 3 1 3
At Large 2 1 2
Pledged PLEO 1 1 1
Total Pledged Delegates 9 4 9

Republicans (updated 23:57 EST)

NH-R Giuliani Huckabee Hunter McCain Paul Romney Thompson Unallocated
Total Pledged Delegates 1 7 4

Saturday, 5 January 2008

Added two delegates for Clinton (Puerto Rico Sen. Kenneth McClintock and DNC member Francisco Domenech) and a delegate for Obama (Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle).

The Wyoming Republican County Caucuses are held today, selecting 12 delegates (as well as 12 alternates) to the National Convention. In addition to these delegates, Wyoming has 2 at-large delegates selected at the State Convention at the end of May. Wyoming has been sanctioned by the Republican National Committee for having an early selection process; originally, they had 14 additional at-large delegates, including 3 superdelegates. The pledged delegate allocation for Wyoming is as follows:

Republicans (updated 18:14 MST)

WY-R Giuliani Huckabee Hunter McCain Paul Romney Thompson Unallocated
Albany County 1
Campbell County 1
Converse County 1
Crook County 1
Fremont County 1
Goshen County 1
Hot Springs County 1
Laramie County 1
Sheridan County 1
Sweetwater County 1
Teton County 1
Uinta County 1
At Large 2
Total Pledged Delegates 1 8 3 2

Friday, 4 January 2008

Added a delegate for Sen. Clinton (Virginia Del. Jennifer McClellan).

Senators Joe Biden of Delaware and Chris Dodd of Connecticut have withdrawn from the race. As all of their delegates were unpledged, all 19 Biden and Dodd delegates are now "Unallocated".

Due to a dispute over the calculation of Republican delegate allocation from Iowa, I have revoked yesterday's tally of pledged Iowa Republican delegates. All 37 pledged Iowa Republican delegates are now considered "Unallocated". Specifically, CNN's tally of these delegates gives 17 delegates to Huckabee, 12 to Romney, 3 to Thompson, 3 to McCain, and 2 to Paul, while the Associated Press's tally gives 30 delegates to Huckabee and 7 to Romney. Attempts to calculate the allocation myself have been futile, as there is no formal system to allocate national party delegates from Iowa; the delegates are chosen at the state party convention on 14 June. For reference, Gov. Huckabee led in all Congressional districts except for the 1st District, which supported Gov. Romney.

Thursday, 3 January 2008

At 22:19 CST, CNN is reporting that Sen. Joe Biden will drop out of the race. When this is confirmed, all 4 delegates for Biden will be deallocated, as they are officially unpledged, although they will be reassigned as necessary.

At 21:37 CST, CNN is reporting that Sen. Chris Dodd will drop out of the race. When this is confirmed, all 15 delegates for Dodd will be deallocated, as they are officially unpledged, although they will be reassigned as necessary.

The Iowa Precinct Caucuses convene between 18:30 and 19:00 Central Time, lasting an hour or two. These caucuses select County Convention delegates, which in turn elect delegates to Congressional District Conventions and the State Convention. These conventions elect the national convention delegates; no national convention delegates are allocated tonight.

Notwithstanding the lack of actual national delegates allocated in tonight's caucuses, it is possible to project the delegate allocation based on tonight's results. Iowa has 57 Democratic delegates (45 pledged and 12 unpledged) and 40 Republican delegates (37 allocated here, although technically unpledged, and 3 unpledged superdelegates). Note that 1 unpledged Democratic delegate supports Clinton, 4 support Edwards, and 2 support Obama. The projected pledged delegate allocation for Iowa is as follows:

Democrats (updated 22:19 CST)

IA-D Biden Clinton Dodd Edwards Kucinich Obama Richardson Unallocated
1st Congressional District 2 2 2
2nd Congressional District 2 2 3
3rd Congressional District 2 2 2
4th Congressional District 2 2 2
5th Congressional District 2 1 1
At Large 3 3 4
Pledged PLEO 2 2 2
Total Pledged Delegates 15 14 16

Tuesday, 1 January 2008

Added a delegate for Clinton (New Jersey Rep. Donald Payne). Also, changed 0.5 delegates to ½ delegates, as I found that the decimal point wasn't always obvious.

Monday, 31 December 2007

Added a delegate for Clinton (Washington Sen. Maria Cantwell).

Sunday, 30 December 2007

Added a delegate for Obama (North Dakota Sen. Kent Conrad).

Friday, 28 December 2007

Added a delegate for Obama (Massachusetts Rep. William Delahunt).

Thursday, 27 December 2007

Added a delegate for Clinton (California Rep. Lynn Woolsey). Also, fixed a typo that was giving the Democratic "Unallocated" tally twenty extra delegates.

Saturday, 22 December 2007

Delegate count posted today.

The current delegate count consists entirely of "superdelegates" -- those delegates permitted to attend their respective national conventions by virtue of their positions as party leaders. These include state party chairmen, members of the parties' National Committees, and (for Democrats only) members of Congress, governors, and former major party leaders. While these officials are officially "Unpledged", many superdelegates have made their endorsement for President known, and are as such included in the delegate count for the candidate that they have endorsed.
